Equity and Diversity Graduation: April 23
Celebrate reaching your goal towards graduation at the Equity and Diversity Graduation Celebration! All University of Utah students graduating in Summer 2018, Winter 2018, Spring 2019, or Summer 2019 are welcome to attend. Dinner will be provided for all attendees, and a cord that can be used at the University of Utah Commencement and Convocations will be presented to all registered graduates.
Black Affair: April 26
Black Affair is held at the end of the year to recognize the work of BSU, honor individuals for their leadership, and to recognize Black graduates; undergraduate, graduate and professional students. This is a time to recognize the hard work that the Black community has put forth to make progress and to acknowledge the scholarship from Black students at the University of Utah. The theme this year for Black Affair is “A Dream Deferred: You Are Your Ancestors’ Dreams”.
The Black Student Union is happy to invite you all as graduates, your families/chosen family, loved ones, and the community to come together to celebrate wonderful achievements of the community at large, Black Student Union, and each of you. Please join to be in community, eat, dance, and recognize black achievement/black excellence. See you there!
Asian American Graduation: May 1
Asian American Graduation is an event dedicated to celebrating soon-to-be graduates from the University of Utah. Held every spring, this ceremony brings together graduates and their friends and family for a night of recognition and celebration of their academic achievements. This event is a great opportunity to congratulate graduates on completing their college journey and to wish them the best as they enter into the professional world or go on to graduate school. Dinner is provided for all attendees, and all graduates will receive an AASA stole that can be worn at graduation.
Lavender Graduation: May 1
Lavender Graduation is an annual ceremony conducted on numerous campuses to honor graduating Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, Questioning, Intersex, and Asexual students. At the University of Utah, Lavender Graduation is traditionally held the week of general commencement to acknowledge LGBTQIA* student achievements and contributions to the University of Utah. Students graduating Fall 2018-Summer 2019, undergraduate and graduate, are invited to take part in the celebration.
Year End Honoring & Graduation Ceremony: May 2
The American Indian Resource Center and Health Sciences Office of Health Equity and Inclusion invite all American Indian, Native Alaskan, and Indigenous students, graduating Fall 2018 through Summer 2019, to celebrate their accomplishments at the Year End Honoring & Graduation Ceremony! All registered attendees will receive a stole that can be worn at other graduations, commencements, and convocation at the University of Utah.
