The Chicano Scholarship Fund was initiated in 1973 by a group of Chicano representatives from the community and University of Utah students, staff and faculty to honor the ideals and principles of the Chicano Movement of the 1960’s and 1970’s. Individuals active in the Chicano Movement overcame obstacles while working for equal opportunity and social justice in education and public affairs.

Committed to all students of diversity who promote the cultural pride and tradition of the Chicana/o-Latina/o community, the Chicana/o Scholarship Fund recognizes and assists students in their undergraduate and/or graduate education endeavors. The Chicana/o Scholarship Fund awards a number of scholarships to graduating high school seniors who will be entering their freshman year at the University of Utah and undergraduate and graduate students at the University of Utah.
