The Center for Ethnic Student Affairs (CESA), LGBT Resource Center (LGBT RC) and American Indian Resource Center (AIRC) of the Office for Equity and Diversity pledge our unwavering solidarity with our DACA and Undocumented students at the University of Utah.

Recently, President Trump denied the continuation of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program established during the President Barack Obama administration in 2012. As a result, our community of DACA and Undocumented students, their families, and community members will be in a vulnerable position for the next six-months waiting to hear the fate of this administrative decision. Students who are up for renewal may apply to remain in the program, however, for proper consideration, students must meet the October 5 deadline. The Federal Government has so far assured that renewals filed correctly and on time will be honored; however, the processing fee is $495 per applicant, making this process impossible for many of our students.

In an attempt to implement action around our support for members of our community, the Center for Ethnic Student Affairs (CESA), LGBT Resource Center (LGBT RC) and American Indian Resource Center (AIRC) would like to petition your support in contributing funds towards the Diversity Emergency Fund.

Please use this secure donation and make a “gift” payment or establish payroll deductions towards the Diversity Emergency Fund. All funds raised during this time will be used to assist students directly with DACA application renewal fees and processes. Please note that, by law, funds donated through the U for DACA renewal fees for DACA students—will be limited in their distribution to current University of Utah students who have graduated from a Utah high school.

A sincere thank you in advance for supporting our wonderful, smart, resourceful, and resilient students! Your contribution will make a meaningful difference for many years to come!

Nicole R. Robinson, Assistant Vice President for Equity and Diversity
