3rd Annual Breaking the Pipeline Symposium

This symposium is geared towards parents, attorneys, advocates, administrators, educators, researchers, and community members interested in dismantling the School to Prison Pipeline, a trend that impacts our most vulnerable youth by pushing them out of school into the criminal justice system.

Keynote Speaker

Dr. Crystal Laura is an assistant professor of educational leadership at Chicago State University. Dr. Crystal Laura is the author of Being Bad. Being Bad has won the 2016 Library Services for Youth in Custody (LSYC) In the Margins Book Award List Selection and 2016 Society of Professors of Education Outstanding Book Award.

La Dra. Laura es profesora asistente de liderazgo educativo en la Universidad Estatal de Chicago. La Dra. Laura es la autora de Being Bad. Being Bad ha ganado los Servicios de Biblioteca 2016 para Jóvenes en Custodia (LSYC) en la Selección de la Lista de Premios Margins Book y en el Premio al Mejor Libro de la Sociedad de Profesores de Educación de 2016.

Disfrute aprendiendo de un panel de activistas estudiantiles, una actualización sobre el estado de cosas en la voluntad de Utah de poner fin al oleoducto de la escuela a prisión de un legislador local, y sesiones interdisciplinarias.

Habrá un desayuno ligero y almuerzo atendido. Podemos acomodar a veganos, vegetarianos, alergias al gluten y alergias al maní.
