Bystander Intervention Training
October 5 @ 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm
Bystander intervention training empowers students to intervene in (and prevent) potentially harmful situations. Stepping in to assist another person that is experiencing harm or abuse is an important part of helping and supporting people in our community. Standing up to de-escalate violence can be difficult but each student at the U plays a valuable role in making our campus a safer place!
Students will learn different skills and techniques to safely intervene before harm begins (prevention), during an incident (intervention), or after the incident has passed. We will dedicate time to dispelling common rape myths as well as discuss consent. We end by exploring common intervention scenarios designed to build confidence in your ability to help.
Bystander Leadership certificates will be handed out to students who complete the entire training.
TRAINING WILL BE HELD IN THE HUB.
