Free Film Screening: Soul Food Junkies
February 26 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm
KUED and Urban Food Connections of Utah (affliated with the Salt Lake City Downtown Alliance) co-host a free community screening of the documentary Soul Food Junkies. This film sets out on a historical and culinary journey to learn more about the soul food tradition and its relevance to black cultural identity.
The filmmaker, Byron Hurt, also meets some pioneers in the emerging food justice movement who are challenging the food industry, encouraging communities to “go back to the land” by creating sustainable and eco-friendly gardens, advocating for healthier options in local supermarkets, supporting local farmers’ markets, avoiding highly processed fast foods, and cooking healthier versions of traditional soul food.
The movie will start at 7 pm in Conference Room B, located on the basement level just one floor below the main foyer and directly across from the restrooms. Light refreshments will be provided. Seating is limited, please RSVP. If you have any questions, please contact Christianna Johnson (firstname.lastname@example.org).
