Brilliant and resilientClass of 2020

Congratulations on everything you’ve accomplished!

Center for Ethnic Student Affairs  •  May 4, 2020

Hello, Graduating Class of 2020!

I am so excited to celebrate you and all of your accomplishments. What an honor it has been to be a part of this amazing journey of yours, and I can’t wait to see what the next chapter of your life brings. I’m so sad I can’t party with you in person, but know that you are in my heart and in my thoughts.

For those of you worried that you won’t get your high-fives, well…just kidding! I can’t wait! I’ll keep my hands well washed and prepped for when we meet again. Again, congratulations on everything you’ve accomplished!

Tricia Sugiyama, CESA Director

A quick message

to the students I’ve been working with who are graduating:

I’m sorry I can’t be there in person, but I did want to say that I’m really proud of all of you and all of your accomplishments. And, yes, I’m talking to you directly! You, with the face and the ears! It’s been really meaningful for me to see people grow and develop – a lot of times, students from starting out to finishing their bachelors – and I know I have some students who are finishing grad degrees as well. It really gives me enjoyment in my job, and I’m so happy to see how well everyone is doing.

Please keep in touch, and take care! When we have a chance, please catch up and come by the office.

Paul Fisk, Transfer Coordinator

Hello, Class of 2020!

My warmest congrats for making it all the way through; for overcoming challenges, obstacles, and struggles on your pathway to graduation. Even in the circumstances, you’re still persevering. You’re all paving the way and are role models for your communities and families as now professionals on the field.

I’m so excited for you to bring representation of your communities to each of your career fields – as psychologists, social workers, business and political professionals, as well as other professions. You all will inspire others and show that they can also achieve their education and career pursuits.

So, again, Class of 2020, congratulations! You deserve this, and you should be proud of your accomplishments!

Giulia Soto, Second Year Program Coordinator

Aloha, students!

How are you doing? Wow, what a crazy semester. But you made it! We’re so proud of you! Congratulations to the Class of 2020! You reached an amazing milestone.

We’re going to miss you at the Center for Ethnic Student Affairs office, or CESA. Thank you for allowing us to be a part of this amazing journey! Please come back! Stay connected!

Remember, self-confidence is the best outfit. Own it, and rock it!

From all of us here at CESA: Aloha!

Ti Kinikini, Retention Programs Coordinator

Hello, Class of 2020!

I just want to take a few seconds to say congratulations on reaching and accomplishing such a demanding milestone.

It’s such an honor to know so many brilliant and resilient scholars like yourself. Although I can’t be there in person with you to say “congrats,” I am sending you my best and most sincere wishes on your next endeavors. When you have a chance to do so, please swing by the office so we can catch up.

Go Class of 2020!

Martha Hernandez, Outreach Program Coordinator

I just wanted to take some time to congratulate our students of Spring 2020. You did it! Congratulations.

I want to thank you for being part of the University of Utah family and community – but definitely thank you for being part of the CESA family. You have given so much back to our institution as educators, mentors, and definitely leaders. Thank you for that! I want to wish you all the best.

Whatever you are tackling from here on out – for some of you, you are jumping right into a career, for others, that means graduate school. Again there, congratulations and good luck on whatever you decide to do! I hope your family and friends are all safe during this time.

Congratulations, Spring 2020, you did it!
