CESB Scholarships


The following scholarships are currently accepting applications through December 1, 2023!

  • A primary objective of NASA’s Space Grant Program is to recruit, train, and employ U.S. citizens, especially women and underrepresented groups, in NASA-related careers. Awardees may re-apply for the following year upon satisfactory progress toward their undergraduate STEM degree and if the student is still enrolled. The selection process of scholarship recipients will be conducted by CESB’s scholarship committee, and the Utah NASA Space Consortium will award the scholarship.

    Award: $750

The following scholarships’ application deadline has been extended to February 1, 2024.

  • The Chicano Scholarship Fund awards scholarships to incoming freshmen (Utah high school graduates), current undergraduate students, and to graduate students at the University of Utah. Eligible students are selected on the basis of family background, life challenges, scholastic effort, and involvement in community activities that promote cultural pride and strengthen the Chicana/o/x/ – Latinx community. Financial need may strongly influence the final selection. The Chicano/a Scholarship will be administered and awarded by the Scholarship Committee in the Center for Equity and Student Belonging (CESB) at the University of Utah.

  • The Samuel and Hermila Endowed Scholarship Fund is established at the University of Utah as a way to provide educational assistance through scholarships to deserving undergraduate students enrolled at the University of Utah. The Samuel and Hermila Alba Scholarship will be administered and awarded by the Scholarship Committee in the Center for Equity and Student Belonging (CESB) at the University of Utah.

    Award: $5,000

  • The University of Utah recognizes that a racially/ethnically diverse student body benefits and enriches the educational experiences of all students, faculty, and staff. Thus, we strive to recruit students who will further enrich this diversity and make every attempt to support their academic and personal success while they are here. In support of this goal, the Utah Opportunity Scholarship (UOS) will be offered to first time incoming college freshmen (FTIC) that graduated from a Utah high school. The Utah Opportunity Scholarship will be administered and awarded by the Scholarship Committee in the Center for Equity and Student Belonging (CESB) at the University of Utah.

    Award: $8,000 per academic year for 4 years
