Black Student Union 7th Annual Legacy Banquet
January 13, 2017 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm
On Friday, January 13th, 2017, the Black Student Union at the University of Utah is hosting our 7th Annual Legacy Awards Banquet. Many of you have been great and continuous supporters of our work on campus, and we would love to have your presence at this event. This year we are excited to honor Dr. Jackie Thompson, Director of Educational Equity at Davis School District, with The Black Student Union’s Annual Legacy Award for her continuous and outstanding service to African American students in the community and at the University of Utah. The banquet will be held at Crimson View Located on the 4th floor of the University of Utah Student Union: 200 South Central Campus Drive, Salt Lake City, Utah 84112 from 6:00-8:00pm.
The proceeds from the Annual Legacy Banquet provide the financial foundation for the Black Student Union (BSU) to offer numerous programs, activities, and conferences throughout the year. BSU is planning on attending the 40th Annual Big XII Conference on Black Student Government located in Austin, Texas this year. The proceeds we receive from this banquet will go toward this trip along with our other programming which includes: educational forums on race, ethnicity and diversity, several community service projects, and personal enrichment activities that are both educational and empowering for students across campus and our community in general.
We are requesting your investment for this event by purchasing individual tickets to attend this event, and by participating in the silent auction. This event represents an excellent opportunity for esteemed faculty and staff to connect with our future leaders while supporting their continued growth and development. Individual tickets purchased before Friday, January 13, 2017 at 3pm will cost $20.00 per person, and tickets purchased at the door will cost $25.00.
