Women face unique issues and challenges when it comes to substance use disorder and recovery. Understanding the social context of substance use may help maximize the recovery process. Dr. Meeyoung Min will provide a brief discussion of key characteristics of female substance use disorder and the role of personal networks for women in treatment and recovery; an illustration of personal network mapping as a tool for assessing these women’s networks; and other practice implications.
