Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion is excited to invite three candidates in the search for the next director of the Dream Center: Cristian Gutierrez, Alonso Reyna Rivarola, and Rosa Salamanca.
Candidates will be visiting campus and presenting their vision for the Dream Center, which will be open to the campus. Cristian Gutierrez presentation on August 16, Alonso Reyna Rivarola on August 17, and Rosa Salamanca on August 18. All three presentations will take place in the Panorama East room of the Union Building at 1:30 p.m.
Alonso R. Reyna Rivarola (él/he) is from Lima, Peru, Alonso migrated to Utah when he was 11 years of age. His experiences growing up undocumented and queer in Utah have shaped his perspectives and inform his passion for supporting and serving historically marginalized communities while holding social institutions accountable. Alonso graduated from the University of Utah with an Honors B.S. in Sociology and an M.Ed. in Educational Leadership & Policy with an emphasis in higher education administration. Alonso likes to garden, spend time with his cats, Kiwi and Gabo, and research in his free time. His research is concerned with PK 12 schooling, practices and illegality in the United States. He has published numerous manuscripts in academic journals, including the International Journal of Qualitative Studies in Education and Gender and Education, and the books Educational Leadership of Immigrants: Case Studies in Times of Changeand The Routledge Handbook of Gender and Feminist Geographies.
