Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion is excited to invite three candidates in the search for the next director of the Dream Center: Cristian Gutierrez, Alonso Reyna Rivarola, and Rosa Salamanca.
Candidates will be visiting campus and presenting their vision for the Dream Center, which will be open to the campus. Cristian Gutierrez presentation on August 16, Alonso Reyna Rivarola on August 17, and Rosa Salamanca on August 18. All three presentations will take place in the Panorama East room of the Union Building at 1:30 p.m.
Rosa Salamanca was born and raised in El Salvador and immigrated to the United States at the age of 16. She has extensive leadership experience serving Undocumented Students and their families. She currently serves as the Director of Undocumented Student Services at the University of California Santa Barbara (UCSB) and was the creator and sole coordinator of the DREAM Center at Sonoma State University (SSU). Her leadership led to the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators (NASPA) Region VI Innovative Program Award in October 2020. She has served on over 20 committees in a leadership capacity, and reported directly to the university President about policy, laws, programming, fundraising and services. At both universities, she has served as the campus expert on immigration policies and laws, including but not limited to in-state tuition laws, DACA and Advance Parole. In her previous positions, Rosa served as a student success advisor at the DREAM Center at California State University, Northridge (CSUN) and University & College Services Coordinator, Legal Assistant, Classroom Instructor, and Educational Exchange Trip Coordinator at the Central American Resource Center (CARECEN) in Los Angeles. Rosa received a B.A. in Psychology and a B.A. in Central American Studies from CSUN. She is a current M.P.A. student at Sonoma State University. Rosa is an experienced research professional, grant writer, and nationally-recognized public speaker. During her time off, she and her dog Luna love to spend time around trees next to a tent, a campfire and a body of water. Rosa loves dancing cumbias and cooking for her family and friends.
