Indigenous Womxn Matter | 2018 RAW Annual Conference on Human Trafficking

Restoring Ancestral Winds, a Great Basin Native Coalition, educates Indigenous communities on issues around domestic, sexual, and dating violence. This year at our annual conference we will be centered on the gravity of Human Trafficking in Native communities.

Please join us for powerful and informative discussions and presentations as we build relationships and restore healing in our Indigenous communities. Our keynote speaker this year will be Sarah Deer, author of “The Beginning and End of Rape: Confronting Sexual Violence in Native America.

Sarah Deer (Muscogee (Creek) Nation)

Sarah Deer (Muscogee (Creek) Nation) has worked to end violence against women for over 25 years and was named a MacArthur Fellow in 2014. Her scholarship focuses on the intersection of federal Indian law and victims’ rights. Prof. Deer is a co-author of four textbooks on tribal law. Her work on violence against Native women has received national recognition from the American Bar Association and the Department of Justice. Professor Deer is also the Chief Justice for the Prairie Island Indian Community Court of Appeals.
