‘Scorpiomics’ with Dr. Lauren Esposito

March 5 @ 3:00 pm 4:30 pm UTC-6

Scorpiomics: the evolutionary patterns and ecological processes of arachnids with Dr. Lauren Esposito on March 5 at 4 pm in ASB 210

Arachnids are the oldest group of terrestrial predators, and their 450 million year reign on Earth has led to some remarkable adaptations. They captivate our fear and imagination, yet we know surprisingly little about the biology of these creatures. We will explore current research on arachnid evolution, biogeography, and ecology; discussing how a greater understanding of the evolutionary patterns and processes in terrestrial arthropods can help shape conservation efforts. We will also explore the unlikely path that led from researching scorpions to activism for the LGBTQ+ community in STEM.

Dr. Lauren Esposito will also be participating in a community round table on Friday morning!
