Join Marriott Library, Sema Hadithi Foundation, and Papillon Skies for a Juneteenth workshop! Make a zine, record your story, and eat good food.

Parking: $3/hour (code provided with registration)
Lunch & afternoon tea provided

Program


11:00 am: Welcome and sign-up to record your story with Sema Hadithi about the Black experience in Utah

11:30 am: Hear from local authors Andrea Hardeman, Alice Burch. BlackGold Publishing, a Black-owned company based in Virginia will join via zoom to talk about starting a publishing company

12:30 pm: Lunch will be served

1:00 pm: Make a zine

  1. Folding zine “Leaders in Black History” (1 pm)
  2. Create original (1:30 pm to 3 pm)–get inspired with special collections & books from Utah Black Leaders 
  3. Make copies of your zine to publish and share with others (3 pm to 4 pm)

4:00 pm: New Authors Showcase & Prize with afternoon tea and light refreshments
