For the past four decades, the University of Utah has paid homage to the life and legacy of America’s most prominent civil rights icon, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., during the week of this birth. And for the first time, the 2024 commemoration will commence with a formal gala that will recognize the contributions of some of the most ardent supporters and advocates of civil rights in the Beehive state’s history.
Join us for a celebration of the ruby jubilee as we look forward to the future and honor those who helped us get here. The night will feature dinner, awards and dancing.

News Anchor, KUTV 2News
Jamie McGriff is a 4 and 9 p.m. Anchor for KUTV 2News. McGriff has been with KUTV 2News for 3 years and during her second year created a weekly television series called “Belonging in Utah,” which focuses on little-known Black history in Utah and airs every Friday during the 5 p.m. newscast.

While there she worked as the Morning Breaking News Reporter and Noon Anchor. During her time living along the Gulf Coast, McGriff covered several news stories that gained local and national attention. Overall, her path as a television journalist has taken her to a number of places including Tulsa, Las Vegas and Memphis, Tennessee.
McGriff is a proud graduate of Oakwood University and was raised in Huntsville, Alabama, where her family still resides.
